This month in DC History
Dinah Laurel Lance (not Dinah Drake Lance) appeared in an ear splitting issue of Justice League of America in 1969. The members of the JLA didn’t think a non-powered heroine would be right for their team but Dinah made her case when she debut her canary cry and made their ears bleed.
What else happened in 1969?
- We finally got the origin of Donna Troy. Her hairstyle and costume would last for 20 years. Anyone else wearing what they wore twenty years ago?
- Dick left for college so what did Bruce do? Seal up the Batcave of course and operate from a penthouse at the top of Wayne Tower. If only Alfred had told him Dick would be back for Thanksgiving.
- Tired of being a mascot for the JLA, Snapper Carr betrayed the JLA by falling victim of the Joker’s sway. With Snapper’s help the Joker replaced Batman and nearly convinced the US Government that the Superheroes were plotting a coup. Once the plan failed Snapper resigned from the JLA and the JLA’s swag store had to throw out all the shirts with Snapper’s face on it.
